What would you change?
If you had the power to change something that would enable you to live your life the way you really want?
Maybe you want to achieve more, have more confidence, get over a fear, a phobia, or a traumatic event: Perhaps you want to lose weight, have more energy or stop smoking. It might be you just want to be free from stress and enjoy your life more. Perhaps there are thoughts from long ago that haunt you…
With a unique blend of new cutting edge techniques such as Thought Field Therapy (TFT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), combined with traditional methods including Life Coaching and Hypnotherapy, I skilfully blend a range of methods to help YOU change what you want to change and get exactly what you want out of life, and as a teacher it is my belief that knowledge isempowerment, and showing a person how to make adjustments to their lives is essential.
Have you ever felt as if life is getting you down?
Of course you have, that’s all part of being human isn’t it? But if you also feel as if things are not going to get better, maybe you would like some help? Cheer up, nobody can do this for themselves, not even a therapist!
The physical, emotional, mental and spiritual are all a part of the holistic approach I endorse. What does this mean? When a person comes for help to a therapist, it is often the case that the primary issue has triggered the appointment, weight, wanting to become a non-smoker, but as we ‘follow the thread’ of reasoning it leads to other things.
Is that sounding strange to you? Well, we all have as part of being human, the ability to learn by example and experience, it’s built into the ‘software’ of our computer-like brains.
We also all have the emotions that these two learning processes stimulate so that bad experiences are not repeated, unfortunately there is often an emotion that is so stimulated to an alarming degree that it overrides / overwhelms all else. So we remain with that alone and not just a lesson learned for the future simply to keep us safe, you could almost say it’s an accident. We are left thinking, “what’s going on?”
It’s sad to tell that the most memorable of these overshadowing emotions are the negative ones, the ones that hurt the most, a sharp slap in the physical, or a sharp word in the mental, these stay far longer than we would wish or need.
The unconscious part of us all is where these memories are stored, and long after they are forgotten, they may still disturb even years later.
This is what’s ‘going on’, and the answer is found through hypnotherapy with the co-operation of all the ‘parts’ concerned, in fact it cannot work without that co-operation, so don’t think for one minute that this is all academic, it’s very practical!
I’ll give you a typical example.
Having a habit that is harmful to the physical body most often begins with a good reason, an intention not to be harmful, in fact the opposite, it’s to protect or sooth the emotional body.
Smoking was not always considered harmful; it was just one way of relaxing the mind and body. But why do people still even start to smoke now we know more about the knock-on effects? Because the emotional benefits are still there and they override all else.
What do we do to solve this tricky conundrum? We address the parts other thoughts cannot reach – to coin a phrase.
If this sound a bit simplistic to you, I’m sure you have tried the DIY method. Tell your self to stop doing a thing and see what happens! Don’t think of a pink elephant. There! You imagined a pink elephant didn’t you? The desire is increased.
This is because you are not addressing the inner self, only a trained therapist can do this, so give me a ring and I will soon give you an idea of how you can be assisted to live your life the way you truly want to, the way you actually deserve to live it, change is easier than you might think ….
Cognitive therapies work with the brain in order to release limiting emotions and behaviours, so that a person is able to replace them with positive thoughts and start working towards their potential.
Do you feel as though you have negative behaviours that are holding you back? Perhaps you feel like you need more motivation, or want to quit smoking, or simply want to learn how to use the cognitive aspects of your brain and body better. Cognitive therapies can be extremely beneficial in all these areas and more.
For example, undertaking therapies such as brain gym or educational Kinesiology can help you with your learning ability, improving your concentration and also your memory as well as more. If you are struggling to find motivation in your life or find that you are not achieving your goals, life coaching, counselling and psychotherapy are fantastic therapies for achieving this. They can help you to outline strategies that work for you and give you the encouragement that you need. You will no longer have to be limited by your own thoughts or behavioural patterns.
Many people have unresolved issues from their past, issues that they may not realise that they are still being affected by. There are therapies to clear these issues from the brain, as well as the associated fears, negative emotions, and limiting beliefs. By clearing these, you are making way for fresh, new thoughts that put you on the path to achieving your full potential and you may end up surprising yourself in the process.
Believe it or not, cognitive therapies such as sound therapy can also retrain your hearing, and even allow you to hear things that you thought you may not ever hear again. Essentially, cognitive therapies allow you to restructure the neurological pathways in your brain so that you may lead a more positive life that is free from negative emotions and self-limiting behaviours.
